Boy's Varsity Wrestling vs. Zeeland East and Coopersville

Starting off the night strong, the Varsity Wrestling Team took on Coopersville Wrestling Team. Starting off the night was sophomore Ethan Goodwin. Weighing in at 112 pounds, he has 16 wins and 2 losses. Goodwin got two takedowns in the first round. In the second round, he escaped his opponent twice but faced a one point penalty and finished the second period with a takedown and a two point near fall. Finishing his round, Goodwin cleaned his performance with a finishing win. Next on deck to fight was the 125 pound contender freshmen Jacob Chase. Chase performed a strong takedown on his opponent and managed to finish the fight at 1:42 seconds with his first win of the night. It was Hamilton’s Eli Ramsey’s turn to step onto the mat. In the first round he took down his opponent. In the second round he made his opponent fall at 2:27 seconds of the match. Later on in the meet senior Dakota Meekhof scored 7 match points also earning him a win after his three rounds. In the first round, he was able to takedown his opponent and escape him in the second round followed by them being taken down. In the final round he was able to pin his opponent twice, earning the 171 pounder his first win for the night. After all matches were finished Boys Varsity Hawkeyes Wrestling Teams scored 61 points against the Coopersville Broncos who earned themselves a loss with 12 points.

In their second meet of the night, the Hawks take on the Zeeland East Chicks. Ethan Goodwin started the night again. Later on in the second round he was able to come up to the top position and gain control of his opponent. Unfortunately, Goodwin wasn’t able to pull off the win for the Hawks. Jacob Chase takes the mat and pulls off two takedowns on his opponent and finishes his night with a win. Braden and Michael Olsen each scored two takedowns in their first round and finished their rounds each with a fall with a minute and fifty seconds in between the twins’ finishes. Another impressive match night was performed by Shane Dams. In the first round he was able to score a takedown, but in the second round he was given a stall warning for taking too long to do anything and was able to pull a reversal. In the third and final round he was able to get back up on his feet and scored a three point near fall.
