Hamilton Boy's Basketball vs. Hopkins

The Hamilton Hawkeyes defeated the Hopkins Vikings 63-56 to improve their record to 2-2. The Hawkeyes leading scorer was Austin Osborn (#30) with a total of 18 hard fought points. Justin Mcillwain (#0) and Brant Goodpaster (#5) were our second top scorers, both with 13 points. The Hawkeyes had a 10 point lead by the end of the 1st quarter. The beginning of the second quarter the Vikings came out and began working their game plan and cut the lead down to one basket, going into halftime with a score of 29-27. After both teams made halftime adjustments the third quarter ended up being more of a defensive quarter with the Hawkeyes out scoring the Vikings 13-8. Which brought us to the 4th quarter, where both teams were neck and neck the whole time. Both teams traded baskets with each possession, ending the final quarter with both teams scoring 21 points. It was a hard fought game, with the Hawkeyes coming out on top, and the Vikings falling to 0-2. The Hawkeyes out rebounded the Vikings grabbing a total of 47 boards to 27 for Hopkins. Leading the way was Brayden Geurink (#4) with a total of 11 rebounds, followed by freshman James Hoffman (#12) with 7 boards respectively. The Hawkeyes led the game in field goal percentage, steals, assists, and blocks, but committed more turnovers and personal fouls then the Vikings.
